The creek is hypnotic,
Slinking over and passing under,
Leaving me to stop and wonder.
Peaceful patterns that ebb and flow,
Slightly different yet somehow the same,
Trapping me in this mindful game.
Nature’s gateway to something new;
A fresh start,
Right on cue.
A moment in time can stick with you forever,
Remind you of the words you wish you said never.
In that second, with weapon of tongue,
Was that the moment it all came undone?
A minute or two,
Was all it took you,
To look at me that way.
Disappointment,
Disappearing, you were,
As I watched us come unglued.
Goodbye, when we just said hello,
The alternate courses we’ll both never know.
Life has finally caught me with its tight grip;
Stripping away the youth,
Threatening me with age.
There was a time when days felt forever,
Now the years flash by like shooting stars.
And here I am watching them as they fly by.
